I will now be able to connect to the internet wherever I go!

I got one of those USB things that gives you a connection to the internets wherever you go!!!

I'm typing this message from a park!! A PARK!!!

So now I don't have to keep going to Starbucks if I wish to do work away from my house!! The world is my oyster! Cafe Nero; Costa Coffee!! :D

Shouldn't you be looking at nature or something in a park rather than a computer screen? :p

I'm also listening to BBC 6 Music online :D

I'll probably get one of those too. Freedom of the internet.

I can see a future, as the technology progresses with better speeds and download limits, when you won't need a landline-based connection anymore.

Then I can say goodbye to BT the daylight robbers.

I don't think I'd want access to the internet everywhere I go. It's a bit like mobile phones - people love them but the last thing I want is people ringing me up when I'm out. I like to escape from technology sometimes.

I don't need a landline anymore. I'll continue to use my home broad-band, which obviously requires a landline, but I could get rid of it if I wanted to.

So do I. I just find it very hard to.

My mate couldn’t wait to show me his dongle, I think it must have been almost 10 years ago now – is that possible?

I mean there are diff types of USB thingys.

It's basically a portable USB modem that connects via a mobile telephony network

The USB thing has a sim card, like a mobile phone.

It connects using the mobile phone network. I pay £15 per month for it; and the dongle was free!!

It's brilliant for me -- as I always need internet access - and if my internet goes down at home, I'll always have a back-up. Likewise If we have a power-cut!!

Maybe I should see about getting my own dongle.

It's fair use. But for just browsing the internet it's great. You'd be hard pushed to use it all.
