As we enter July, it's that time of year again...

Just had a look at the First Night (http://www.bbc.co.uk/proms/2008/whatson/1807.shtml#prom1) programme which seems slightly unusual as there are no barnstorming warhorses here, although on the other hand I suppose that is quite refreshingly different.

The Mozart Oboe concerto I must admit I am not familiar with, it's an early-ish work from around the time of his Mannheim-Paris tour (I can tell that simply from its K number).

The Beethoven Rondo in B-flat is a very nice Mozart-like number that is rarely heard; indeed it's a WoO piece (WoO 6, I think). :)

I also like Prom 7 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/proms/2008/whatson/2207.shtml#prom7) for the Haydn Cello Concerto in C major. Which is actually quite difficult to play, though not as difficult as the D major. Lots of little articulations. The finale rocks, by the way :)
