OK, let's try this topic.

Boris Johnson has advised us all to walk on by if we see anyone in trouble in public. This is because of the growing number of people who get attacked themselves if they try to help someone in trouble or speak out against yobs.

Would you walk on by? If I saw someone being verbally abused in the street I don't think I could, I would try to help them. If I saw someone being attacked with a knife or something I don't know what I'd do. I think I'd ring the police and hope they get there in time. I certainly don't think I could just ignore it and walk on by - I couldn't live with the guilt if I did that.

If you see me walking down the street, and I start to cry -- each time we meet, walk on by, walk on by.

Yeah, OK, just as I thought - it's already turned into a stupid chatter thread.

Hmm. I'm not sure if I'd just walk on by; it would depend on the circumstances. I think, if someone was being stabbed, I'd call the police - but wouldn't get involved. It's just not worth it - I'm too pretty to die!!!!

I couldn’t walk on by if I saw a person or an animal being hurt and I haven’t in the past. Once I saw two boys kicking a cat, I saw red and flew for them, they took off. If it was a situation when I would be out-numbered I would phone the police, not 999 I have the number of my local station on my mobile phone book. I programmed it in after a mate of mine was thrown through a shop window. The only thing he did was to ask them to move so he could drive his car up to his house.

I would phone 999 on my mobile... discreetly so I don't get targeted

That’s the Scottish Borders.

He was very lucky to escape without serious injury because the window was down into the back room of a sweet shop with a very heavy mixing bowl which he missed cracking his head on. He just had a few impressive bruises.

:( And I always thought the Scottish Borders was a nice area, quiet and rural. Never been there but i knew a guy at uni who was from St Boswells near Melrose.

Galashiels and Hawick (where the incident happened) are a bit more… erm … real.

Melrose is very nice. Half of St Boswells is OK.

I've lived next door in Dumfries though. It's a lovely town :)

apart from the pesky seagulls

Don’t have many seagulls, because I am near to the River Tweed I sometimes have swans flying over the garden. They usually fly in threes and make a strange whooping sound when they are flying.

I would never and have never walked on by if someone is getting hurt.
