View Full Version : Mobile Phones: Contracts or Pay As You Go?
I have a contract phone. They work out much easier (and probably cheaper) than those Pay As You Go phones.
My phone, which I've had for about a year now, has 500 texts; 500 minutes; and unlimited data transfer which costs me 60 GBP per month. If I don't use all the minutes, they roll over to the next month.

I have been on contract for 9 years
I like to upgrade my phones every 12months and you get better phones on contract
I was on a Contract with Vodafone for 9 years and when I moved to where I am now, Vodafone had no reception at all. I went to get an O2 and they wouldnt give me a contract as at the time I was a student.
I have stayed on O2 PAYG now and I am really happy, I pay £10 a month for 500 free texts and obviously I use the ten pounds in calls, and then when that runs out I use my boyfriends phone... An excellent system:D
I fail to mention his bill has been at over £50 a month cos Of me :o

Anyway, O2 are pretty good, aren't they? They are the best network I've been on.

I think so. They have coverage nearly everywhere I go, plus they give me freebies once a month, like extra texts or calls or I can save them up and upgrade the phone with money off. I currently have £10 saved so when i decide to get a new phone, which wont be for ages I will get money off . Magic:D

How much a month do you spend on your phone??
I spend £10 a month :)... well sometimes it might be £20 but not very often
Ah, it's not worth getting a contract then :D
Mind you, you get a free phone :p

No it's not worth it for, Plus when i had a contract in the past I used over what I got and my bills were really high.
This way I am a skinflint and hardly ever ring anyone!!:p:o

I've got two pay as you go phones. I've had one for ages but it's a bit heavy so I got a new one for about £20, which is diddy!
I hardly use them so I wouldn't bother with a contract phone. I only use mine to speak to certain people and to send a few text messages. They're also handy when you're out shopping with friends and they want to go to a different shop than you, or when they escape while you're looking at clothes. :D

Contract with a couple of mates. They just sort everything for me and turn up with a new phone every so often.
Pay as you go for me - I use about £5 a month, if that! When I had a contract phone I would use it all the time just for the sake of it. :o
Contract for my main phone and PAYG for my work PDA http://img.alibaba.com/photo/10855787/Brand_New_Unlocked_T_Mobile_MDA_III_MDA_3_PDA_not_ P910.jpg

I had a T-Mobile contract for years, but the reception was shit, so I swapped last year to O2, and it's much better. 500 minutes, 500 texts for only £30 a month, plus I got an X-Box 360 when I signed up ( for my son ). Bargain !!!

I am on PAYG with an old Vodafone tariff. I don't talk or text enough to justify a contract.

Im sure you could get better than that Adam?
If you were to choose 3, You could have a mixure of 1100 units, 1text = 1 unit, 1minute = 1unit,
Then add the internet gold series addon which is unlimited Web access and also a free sling box all for just £30 a month!
The thing is the phone, you can either pick one of the free ones, or a better one but if you do it online you have to add like £7 a month on top for that phone or £5 for another phone. Some stores let you just purchace the phone at a price so you don't add it onto the monthly bill.

I've not tried O2 yet. Is it miles better now than when it was BT Callnot?
