View Full Version : Website Suggestions
Hello!
Here's where I ask you if you've get any suggestions on how we can make the website better.
I constantly want to improve Showbiz Spy - the forum and main the site - to ensure all of you keep coming back. (I don't want to have to get a proper job, do I?)
Anyway. I know most of you that use the forum don't use the main site, but if you can think of any suggestions on how we could make it better, things like content, etc. that would be very helpful!
Also, if you'd like any new forums added, then please post those here.
Any other suggestions you have, fire away!
Also, there *will* be some more smilies added shortly.
Thanks,
Adam

Well i am sure once you integrate the forum with your main site, then there will be more cross-traffic between them.
I didn't even know you had a main site until it was mentioned.
Anyway i like the forum layout, it's clean and easy to read. And everyone seems friendly.
It's a shame that there aren't more posters yet, but hopefully that will remedy itself. Showbiz Spy does come up quite high in random google searches on showbiz-related stories, so you should be able to attract new people to this forum from your main site. :)

btw what about all your previous members? Do they know about your site relaunch? Or are you basically having to start from scratch again to build up membership?
I actually should've emailed them before. Ah well.
The main site has a few changes to be made to it, we'll get a few more posts here, and we'll integrate the forum into the main site.

I think it's good to keep the number of forums low, until the amount of activity justifies it. Then you can also see what category of topics call for a forum of their own, based on the number of such threads. Although I was thinking maybe an all-encompassing Technology forum?
Do you think you'd use a tech forum??

Personally I would, and I hope others would too.
Obviously it would a single all-encompassing, general, forum for anything and everything technological, in order to promote maximum activity in one place.
However it might be worth waiting to see how many Technology-related threads get posted in Natter, or waiting for more members and more activity. On the other hand, it's possible that people may be discouraged from doing so because they see it as not really Natter.

But i do think you have an excellent board that's clear and easy on the eye, and friendly and welcoming. It just needs more punters but I am sure that will come in time. :)
Well the *new* forum has only been up for about a week (maybe a bit longer??!) and it's doing quite well, me thinks. :)
But, as ever, time will tell :D

well, you should have some good styles to match the logo and main site ;)
Erm...to diversify your content - offer different content to a range of target audiences. There will be a lot of internet users who like looking at trivia - hence they use the internet for this - that's why Wikipedia & the like are so successful.
So, a number of biographical pages on celebrities & bands will be great as it would attract fans of celebrities too.
Also, Showbiz Spy used to be quite personal. It now lacks a bit of personality - the articles are written very generically which keeps things tidy but doesn't excite readers - it won't make them think "Oh, we'll come back next time".
But, who would listen to a novice like myself?

I think it would be a good idea where you the men can debate cars consoles and such like.
And the girls can talk about Ironing and washing and cooking ;)

That stuff about washing could go in natter - besides, I never iron anything. :D
What I find lacking here is topics on more serious subjects, but then again SBS has never been very good for that.
Re the showbiz and entertainment sections, we're still getting links but no "spin" to the story or personal opinions except for rather inane comments. It's difficult to comment on something where only a link has been posted.

Hello Fen :)
To be honest I never really post in the Showbiz section it's not my thing :)

True, but it is one third of the forum at the moment, and entertainment is another third. I'm finding it difficult to sustain the meaningless banter in natter tbh.
EDIT. Oops - sorry, forgot about the new BB forum. I don't watch it though so I haven't read it. :D

Keep it in Technology. I am sure some people might enjoy discussing the merits of Bosch versus Tefal irons.
Irons are really technologically advanced these days. Check out the unique Tefal Ultraglide soleplate with extra microholes for optimal steam diffusion... oooh sexy  ;)

Oh did I mention that my iron exploded recently?
I was messing around trying to fix a loose connection, took it apart and rewired the connections back wrong... when I switched back on to test it, the pilot light came on and I thought "aha, great"... then all of a sudden it exploded in a flash of white light, sparks flying and acrid smoke. Some of the sparks even went into my eye
It was a Tefal as well :o

My wife's iron is like that. It sits on a sort of launchpad.... resembles Thunderbird 2 imo.
You notice I say, my wife's iron? I don't go near anything that needs a degree in aerodynamics. :o

My iron turns itself onto standy after 7 mins just in case i forget to turn it off, and if it gets knocked onto its plate, after 30 seconds, in auto switches off, I do like gadgets lol

Is there a music forum here, or even a music thread?

Music is in the entertainment forum.
Feel free to start any threads you want to.
I’d like to have a forum where you can embed YouTube clips, but I don’t have the power to enable that.

This is what the search revealed for Music.

So there is no general music thread and you are welcome to start one. :)
